The Indigenous Bail Worker position helps people who are in custody to get released on bail. This position gathers information to put together release plans for the court, interviews clients to determine if they qualify for bail supervision, and works with the Bail Bed Coordinator for accomodations. Bail supervision monitors people on release by weekly one-on-one meetings and check-ins. This position will work with the Community Release and Reintegration Worker and the Pikangikum Health Authority.


· Experience or education in social services, justice or health.

· Knowledge of the justice system, criminal court, and issues affecting Indigenous peoples.

· Fluency in an Indigenous language is an asset.

· Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work independently.

· Positive role model in the community.

· Strong communication and writing skills.

Responsibilities: ***Training will be provided in order to do the following***

· Build relationships with community service providers and justice partners.

· Interview clients, complete assessments and determine eligibility for programs.

· Obtain client information, adhere to program requirements, and communicate outcomes.

· Supervise bail court orders and provide aftercare support to clients in the Bail Program.

· Assist clients with social, mental health, education, living accomodations, life-skills and well-being services, to reintegrate into the community following incarceration.

· Maintain confidential client records and complete statistical reporting.

· Other duties as required.
